Flights to Preveza

Preveza Airport is a pleasant 35 minute drive away from the Villa. It is serviced by airlines from the UK with regular flights from Gatwick,Stansted and Manchester Airports.

The usual way to travel from the UK to Lefkada ( Lefkas ) during the holiday season is by flight to Preveza airport which is about a 20 minute drive from the island. There are a number of package holiday flights from Gatwick and Manchester on Sundays which have flight only options. British Airways, Excel Airways and Thomas Cook are the main ones but there may be others.

Alternatively you can fly from a UK airport to Athens with most major airlines including Easy Jet, enjoy a day or 2 in the city if you wish, before getting the bus to Lefkada. Buses are air conditioned and very reasonably priced. They run frequently throughout the day and the journey takes about 5 hours. You can also fly from Athens to the islands of Keffalonia or Corfu on the west coast and incorporate a boat trip into to your journey or fly to Ioannina on the mainland and finish your trip by car.

Though Lefkada is technically an island it is joined to the mainland by a swing bridge making driving on and off the island easy.

On the island a car is essential to reach the house and we would recommend that you hire your own, especially if you wish to explore the island, it's many villages and beaches or perhaps travel to the mainland only 30 minutes away.

From Preveza Airport it will take about :

20 minutes to reach Lefkada
45 minutes to reach Nidri

Check-in times are 21⁄2 hours (minimum) prior to the confirmed departure time stated on your E-ticket or paper flight tickets. Our flights operate on a weekly basis. On certain dates we are able to offer two, three or four week holidays. It is recommended to book such durations early, as they are limited.

BY BUS-CAR

The distance Lefkas-Athens is 385 kilometers. You can reach Lefkas by your own car, via the bridge that connects Lefkas with Etoloakarnania, without transporting your car with the car-ferry boat. Alternatively, if you do not want to drive, you can reach Lefkas by KTEL buses, that leave from the big Greek cities, Athens, Thessalonica, Patras, Giannena. From Athens, bus service is daily and the travel lasts 5 hours, while the bus-connection to Thessalonica is 2 times the week and the travel lasts 7 hours. The sub-marine tunnel Preveza-Aktio and the bridge Rio-Antirio have facilitated a lot the access to the island of Lefkas.

BY SEA

The ports of Igoumenitsa and Patras are the two biggest ports, which are considered as gates to Ionian. From Nydri and Vasiliki, depart daily ferry boats that connect Lefkas to Kefalonia, Ithaca and to the smaller islands Scorpios, Sparti, Meganisi, Madouri, Prigiponisia, Skorpidi.

Ferries from Italy don't call directly at Lefkas and you will need to get to Kefalonia or Igoumenitsa on the mainland to catch a connecting ferry. Ferries are mainly from the Italian coast and mostly run by Minoan, Anek and Superfast. It is a two-hour drive from Igoumenitsa to Lefkas Town.
On Lefkas itself there are two local ferries. One connects Lefkas to Fiskardo on Kefalonia. It sails daily from Nidri in the low season and Vassiliki in the summer calling at Friskes on Ithaka on the way. Sailings are at 8.50am from Lefkas arriving at Fiskardo at 10.50 and returning at noon. Times can vary though and its is worth checking ports first on 31555 or 92509. This ferry also takes cars and bikes.
